GridGain Platform Versioning
GridGain releases new versions on a regular basis following a Major.Minor.Maintenance naming convention.
- Major Releases - represent major product changes, some of which are not backward-compatible. Rolling Upgrades (available in Enterprise and Ultimate Editions) are not supported for major versions changes and assume a special upgrade procedure for production clusters.
- Minor Releases - introduce new features and significant improvements. Rolling Upgrades are supported for all minor releases unless there are any breaking changes.
- Maintenance Releases - deliver bug fixes, security patches, and performance optimizations. Rolling Upgrades are supported similarly to minor releases as described above.
GridGain 9 additionally separates releases into public and private types.
Public releases of GridGain 9 are available to anyone to download from the website and only require a Community Edition license. Public versions have a less frequent release cadence. Each community release includes a full set of changes from private releases.
Private releases are available to customers with Enterprise or Ultimate Edition, and require an appropriate license. These releases are more frequent and include the latest features, security patches, and performance improvements.
GridGain Control Center Versioning
GridGain Control Center uses Calendar versioning following the Year.Version.Patch format.
- Year - denotes the year the product version was released in YYYY format. For patch releases, the Year reflects when the base version was released versus when the patch was issued.
- Version - the numbered version of the release in the year. Version number is reset each year.
- Patch - optional patch number for backwards-compatible patch releases.
