Cluster Membership Improvements in Apache Ignite 3.0

Apache Ignite 3.0 is the next major version that aims to modernize and simplify Ignite while maintaining its flexibility and performance advantages.

One of the significant architectural improvements in Apache Ignite 3.0 is cluster membership, i.e. the mechanisms that allow the cluster nodes to form a cluster and stay connected. The Discovery protocol used for this in 2.x is replaced with new, improved protocols that provide better scalability and stability, especially with large clusters.

In this talk, Aleksandr Polovtsev, Senior Software Developer at GridGain, will overview the new cluster membership and lifecycle mechanisms and explore how they compare to the Ignite 2.x’s Discovery.
