GridGain/Apache® Ignite™ Community update for August 2018

GridGain/Apache Ignite Community update for August 2018

Greetings! August is upon us and we’re organizing insightful yet fun events for you. Our experts will once again be on the road – traveling to San Diego, Silicon Valley, Atlanta and New York City.

But first, I’d like to offer a limited number of half-priced tickets to the In-Memory Computing Summit North America 2018. The conference is happening Oct. 2-3 near the San Francisco International Airport in Burlingame – midway between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Use the promo code Tom50 at registration and 50 percent will be instantly taken off the price. Register here.

In related news, catch-up on the insightful keynotes and sessions from June's In-Memory Computing Summit Europe by viewing the slides and recordings.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the month ahead.

Webinars

Aug. 2
This Thursday GridGain senior technical consultant Lucas Beeler will discuss architectural best practices many companies have used in their journey to multi-cluster computing applications. By the end of this webinar, you’ll understand these best practices for designing multi-cluster in-memory computing applications. Like all of our events, both virtual and physical, this is a free event but you must RSVP to reserve your space.

This webinar is titled, “GridGain Webinar: Designing Multi-Cluster In-Memory Computing Applications.” This is a free webinar but you must RSVP to reserve your spot.

Aug. 28
"In-Memory Computing Essentials for Architects and Developers: Part 2." In this webinar, technology  evangelist Akmal Chaudhri will introduce the fundamental capabilities and components of a distributed, in-memory computing platform.

With increasingly advanced coding examples, architects and developers will learn about:

  • Collocated processing
  • Collocated processing for distributed computations
  • Collocated processing for SQL (distributed joins and more)
  • Distributed persistence usage

RSVP now for this free webinar.

Meetups

Aug. 23
Bay Area In-Memory Computing Meetup: Denis Magda, director of product management at GridGain Systems, will be a featured speaker at the Aug. 23 Bay Area In-Memory Computing Meetup in Menlo Park, Calif. The title of his talk will be: "Best Practices for Deploying Distributed Databases and In-Memory Computing Platforms with Kubernetes."

Aug. 27
Greater Atlanta Internet of Things (GAIT) Meetup:
GridGain technology evangelist Akmal Chaudhri will be the featured speaker at the Greater Atlanta Internet of Things (GAIT) Meetup on Aug. 27. The title of his talk: "Speeding-up the IoT: Best practices for stream ingestion, processing and analytics using in-memory computing."

Aug. 28
Big Bang Data Science – Georgia Meetup:
GridGain technology evangelist Akmal Chaudhri will be the special guest speaker at the Big Bang Data Science – Georgia Meetup. The title of his talk will be: "Improving Apache Spark™ In-Memory Computing with Apache® Ignite™" Akmal will share how Apache Ignite simplifies development and improves performance for Apache Spark. He'll explain, with insightful examples, how Apache Spark and Ignite are integrated -- and how they are used together for analytics, stream processing and machine learning.

Aug. 29
NYC In-Memory Computing Meetup:
GridGain technology evangelist Akmal Chaudhri will be the lead speaker at the Aug. 29 gathering of the NYC In-Memory Computing Meetup. The title of Akmal's talk will be: "Machine and Deep Learning with Apache® Ignite™." Apache Ignite Release 2.4 added built-in machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL). It not only eliminates any delays caused by transferring data to a different database or store.  It delivers near real-time performance by running a variety of ML and DL algorithms in place, in memory, that are optimized for collocated processing.

Aug. 30
New York City PostgreSQL User Group:
GridGain technology evangelist Akmal Chaudhri will be the featured speaker at the New York City PostgreSQL User Group's Aug. 30 meetup. The title of his talk will be: "PostgreSQL with Apache Ignite: Faster Transactions and Analytics."

Thanks all for this update. But I'll be back throughout the month for more community news. Stay tuned!
